Madagascar Lemon Hunt

Travel to the gemstone rich mines at Andelamena of Madagascar to dig for ctirines. This mine is a one-stop shop for not just quartz crystal, but garnet, sapphires, rubies and more.  The new deposit is about 85 kilometers north of the village. Most of the sellers were either miners or middlemen who had walked there to sell rubies. Like most parts of Madagascar, there are no roads so walking or flying are the only options.

Citrine is joyous, warm and energizing gemstone . It is also one of the most affordable gems, thanks to the durability and availability of this golden quartz. Named from the French name for lemon, many citrines features a juicy lemon color. In ancient times, citrine was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts.
